The results are in, and they are interesting!
The three drawing requests I got were great, but also, I only got three requests? (If I missed yours, let me know!) I opened it up to paid subscribers thinking it was a nice way to give them something special and exclusive. Like many of us, I’m trying to find the balance of what I produce and how I offer it up.
I’m curious where the drawing request breakdown was, or if there even was a breakdown? Was I clear? Who is reading? What do they want? What do I want?
And what was it Steve Jobs said? Find out how many generations of iphones the customer wants before they realize you have all their data. Or something like that.
I have more than three paid subscribers, and I sit with this anxiety about whether I’m giving them (you) their (your) money’s worth. There are so many ways to spend your money, even the few dollars a month, and I am so grateful and appreciative when people use their hard earned wages to support me and art in general! I also appreciate all of you free subscribers who read and interact and respond! I can only pay for so many Substacks myself, so I get it.
The good news is that I’ll open up the next drawing request to everyone! So stay tuned for that.
I guess have a lot to learn about reader engagement! I just like drawing cats. Go figure.
Thank you to those who responded! Numbers don’t matter, you do. So, without further ado, here are the requests, all drawn up!
What our pets are really trying to tell us
A cat using its sleeping human as a trampoline in the middle of the night.
A hitchhiking bird
And there you have it! I can’t wait for the next round of requests. I’ll study up on the human condition and be ready for it.
Thanks as always,
Avi
Brilliant work! I definitely get my money’s worth since your posts always lift up my mood, especially when I’m trapped at work. I mean after work, I definitely don’t look at my phone during work...
I'm a free subscriber on the other side of the world from NYC, and I really appreciate your musings on your life and the human condition, and your drawings. I particularly loved the lateral thinking and imagination of "flying turtle" and the "pancake and a waffle on their first date" . And they are wonderful mood-lifters on a dreary winter's day.
