A number of days ago I discovered a newsletter in my drafts, blank, except for a one-word title: Pain. I had no idea what I had intended with this piece, why it went unfinished, or if it was simply a typo.
Maybe I was going to write about my achilles tendon, which hurts if I even think about walking?
Maybe a headache of mine inspired me to write a piece about headaches, but I didn’t complete it because I had a headache?
Maybe I had meant to type “painting” but stopped halfway through the title, because I got distracted by, oh, I don’t know, anything?
So, what do I do now…
Well, I’ve written before about my numerous unfinished short stories. I think I have enough incomplete chunks of text that I could stitch them together, run a current through the thing, and terrorize you all. But I won’t. Instead, I’m going to surprise everyone, especially myself, by finishing what I started. Enjoy!
And there you have it: proof that I don’t leave every draft undone.
Wait, breaking news. I just looked back. I think I did draw something about pain! Maybe this unfinished draft was just a duplicate post as I was learning how to use Substack? Did I just redraw an old piece? Is this a different take? Is my literary life a roller coaster?
Time will tell. Until then, thanks for being here. See below for the original pain-piece, and if anything, this one-two punch demonstrates how you can grow as a writer and artist. I like this new one better.
Whacha think?

(The old post was one for paid subscribers, so I’ve opened it up to everyone. But your continued support makes it much easier to do this thing. Thank you!)
Nice!
Oh I thought it would turn out to be a typo in 'Paint' and you were going to share your adventures in watercolours. But this is way more relatable ! You deserve to go lie down with a wheat bag now
